Dual Citizenship Madagascar

Citizenship in Madagascar is primarily based upon the principle of jus sanguinis (right of blood).

Madagascar permits dual citizenship under very limited circumstances. Malagasy children born abroad who acquire another citizenship may keep their dual citizenship until age 21, when they must choose which citizenship to keep. Also, a Malagasy citizen who marries a foreign spouse and obtains a foreign citizenship does not lose his or her Malagasy citizenship.
